The American Rescue Plan to Now Include Bare Minimum

WASHINGTON, D.C.—President Biden’s American Rescue Plan, which passed the House late Friday night and has been sent to the Senate, will now include the absolute bare minimum, according to sources with knowledge of the bill. “Sending each individual $1,400 in a single stimulus check will ensure our citizens have the funds to buy two months of groceries, or just under a month of rent in Los Angeles. Whichever they see fit,” said White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki in a news conference aired to households across America still struggling to make rent and mortgage payments almost a year into the pandemic. “We have all had to make sacrifices this year, like the sacrifice legislators made by removing the $15 minimum wage provision from the bill to align with the Senate Parliamentarian’s view that corporations are more important than human lives. But listen, that’s the American way, and this is the American Rescue Plan.” At press time, legislators in the Senate were discussing the merits of shortening the bill’s name to just “The American Plan” in a cost-saving effort for the American people.
