WASHINGTON, D.C.—As the incoming Biden-Harris administration attempts to foster bipartisanship by compromising with the Republican Party on certain issues, Vice President-elect and outgoing U.S. Senator Kamala Harris walked back her previous position of being a lifelong resident, and elected representative of, the state of California. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” said Harris incredulously when asked by a reporter what it meant to her to be the first Vice President from California since Richard Nixon, seeming to almost laugh at the notion. “Look, people say a lot of things on the campaign trail, and that’s just part of running for office. Whether or not I am from, or ever represented, a liberal state like California, that’s not what matters now. I am going to be a Vice President for all Americans.” Following Harris’ reversal, her Twitter account was scrubbed of any mention of California, and her bio changed to “Proud Midwesterner.”
